Blueroof Church exists to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, help individuals grow in their relationship with God and connect to each other in community. Find out how we started, and where we’re going.
It was in 1923 that we were founded as First Assembly of God in downtown Benton Harbor. We were originally established by and for German speaking immigrants who came seeking a better life. Since our beginning, we have grown and moved to four different locations. We originally started out in a storefront in Benton Harbor. From there, we moved into a church building, which still exists today on the corner of Highland and McCord.
Our next move took us to the Fairplain area to a new facility on Nickerson Avenue in Benton Harbor, Michigan. God blessed us with tremendous fruit and growth during our time here, from budding families and new converts to the outpouring of Spiritual Gifts and manifestations.
It was November of 1998 that we began to hold services at our present location on Niles Road in St. Joseph, Michigan. We are continually thankful for God's blessing and faithfulness -- no matter where we choose to meet, we know where two or three are gathered He is with us!
An instrumental part of the move from the Nickerson building to our current location was Pastor Dan Miller. Pastor Dan’s heart was for the Church to resemble our communities, to be a place where everyone was welcome, no matter their background or status.
Because of its bright blue roof, the name of the Church was changed to Blueroof Church in 2004. After many years of service to this congregation, Pastor Dan Miller retired in 2020 and transitioned Pastor Nathan Bloomfield from Executive Pastor to Lead Pastor.
Worship is the heartbeat of our church family! We begin with dynamic & impactful worship, pulling from many streams & styles including contemporary, gospel, & traditional. You can expect a practical, encouraging, and Spirit-led Word each Sunday. We believe the Bible is God’s love story written to us. It carries power, wisdom, and unchanging Truth we need for Christian living.
If you would like individual prayer, there are members of the prayer team that will be happy to pray for you at the end of the service.
Our Sunday Experience begins at 10 am, but arrive early to get some complimentary coffee & other refreshments. Park in one of our Guest Parking spaces and enjoy the shorter walk!
A parent room is available for parents to soothe their babies while also watching the livestream of the service. A nursing mother’s room is also available just off of the women’s bathroom.
Blueroof Kids is a safe, fun, and interactive place for children to learn about Jesus. Offering two classrooms of age-appropriate learning environments, we take seriously the opportunity to pour into our youngest attendees and shower them with the love of Jesus. Classes are available to K-5th Grade. Our check-in process only takes a few moments to complete but ensures that your children are safe and only released to a parent or guardian.
There is something for everyone! Kids, youth, seniors, and adults connect each week through blueGROUPS, Bible study and more!
