OUR HISTORY

Our Beginning

It was in 1923 that we were founded as First Assembly of God in downtown Benton Harbor. We were originally established by and for German speaking immigrants who came seeking a better life. Since our beginning, we have grown and moved to four different locations. We originally started out in a storefront in Benton Harbor. From there, we moved into a church building, which still exists today on the corner of Highland and McCord.

Holy Spirit Outpouring

Our next move took us to the Fairplain area to a new facility on Nickerson Avenue in Benton Harbor, Michigan. God blessed us with tremendous fruit and growth during our time here, from budding families and new converts to the outpouring of Spiritual Gifts and manifestations.

God's Growth

It was November of 1998 that we began to hold services at our present location on Niles Road in St. Joseph, Michigan. We are continually thankful for God's blessing and faithfulness -- no matter where we choose to meet, we know where two or three are gathered He is with us!

Passing the Torch

An instrumental part of the move from the Nickerson building to our current location was Pastor Dan Miller. Pastor Dan’s heart was for the Church to resemble our communities, to be a place where everyone was welcome, no matter their background or status.

Because of its bright blue roof, the name of the Church was changed to Blueroof Church in 2004. After many years of service to this congregation, Pastor Dan Miller retired in 2020 and transitioned Pastor Nathan Bloomfield from Executive Pastor to Lead Pastor.
